Two very special northern BC authors are launching their new works this week at Books & Company. That night also marks the launch of Terrace author Simon Thompson's first published work, Why Does it Feel So Late? According to poet George Stanley, "Simon Thompson is a realist; his world is one that, as in some of Al Purdy's work, may escape the full comprehension of humans; yet he holds the life of the town he lives in, Terrace, BC, in affection . . . These poems always ring true to the real, but they can also suggest that life has other dimensions beyond the familiar." Be at Artspace, 8:00 p.m. for this joint launch.

As part of its musical outreach program, the PGSO is pleased to present the third of a series of FREE concerts at the Prince George Public Library (Bob Harkins branch.) Join the PGSO and its Storyteller on Saturday, January 30th at 2:00 for the story of Baba Yaga complete with a slide show and musical accompaniment by the PGSO String Quartet. Baba Yaga?s Hut is one of the images behind Mussorgsky?s famous ?Pictures at an Exhibition?, which will be performed at the PGSO?s next concert on February 6th. Baba Yaga is a famous, fictitious Russian witch. She lives in a house made of bones that walks by itself on a pair or scrawny chicken legs. There is an abundance of children?s stories full of bravery, trickery, magic and happy endings based on the Baba Yaga Yarn. The PGSO will be presenting one version of this story January 30th.

This presentation is open to children of all ages and their parents. There is no admittance fee and the audience will have the opportunity to talk to the musicians and to learn more about the instruments. This event is made possible through the support of the Nechako Rotary Club and the City of Prince George.

This is entertainment, education and family fun in one great event.

Please join us Saturday January 30th at 2 pm at the downtown Prince George Library.
