Picture This! A PGSO Family Matinee
Bring the children and enjoy a special Prince George Symphony Orchestra presentation of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition featuring a slideshow of artwork and photographs from youth in our community, and the opportunity to see and hear a brilliant young composer and pianist.
On Sunday, February 7th, 2010 at 3:00pm at Vanier Hall, the PGSO is presenting a special Family Matinee featuring Mussorgsky?s Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Gordon Lucas. This timeless music depicts a trip through imaginary art exhibition and will be accompanied by our very own exhibition of artwork submitted by youth in our community. Concertgoers will also be treated to excerpts of a brand new piano concerto (premiered in its entirety at the PGSO?s Mainstage concert the night before) performed by the composer, Iman Habibi. There will be opportunities to meet our musicians and ask questions of the composer. This is a great way to introduce the whole family to the joy of live classical music.
Tickets $8.00-$15.00 are available at Studio 2880 Ticket Centre (2880 15th Avenue) or by phone (250) 563-2880
If any youth in the community would like to submit photographs or artwork for the concert ? the deadline for inclusion in this presentation has been extended to February 3, at 5:00pm. The PGSO theme this season is ?Close to Home? and we would like to see ?home? through the eyes of Prince George?s Youth. As part of Prince George SnowDaze Winter Festival and in celebration of our Northern winter, there will be a special snow category ? so get out your cameras or paints! Selected entries will be presented on screen during the concert and/or exhibited in the lobby. Please mail, deliver or email your contributions with name, address, phone number (and age) to the PGSO by Wednesday, February 3rd at 5:pm by:
